Government Affairs Committee Update (April 12, 2019)

The Incorporation Committee has been meeting since March 1, 2019 to examine the benefits and costs associated with forming a township.
The primary benefits identified thus far are:
 - Greater focus on beach maintenance and renourishment - Increased local control of zoning and land use - A voice in the expected proposal to add a bridge from the Crosstown Parkway from Walton Road
The costs associated with the township have not been fully identified but are expected to be revenue neutral.
The preliminary feasibility study is expected to take 2 to 4 months and will be done at no out of pocket cost.  If the recommendation is to complete a full study, the cost of $25K is expected.
